> It was a hot and humid start to the work week here in Central and
> Eastern Kentucky with afternoon highs surging into the low 90s once
> again. With a stationary front to our north and plenty of moisture
> in place, a few scattered storms popped up with the heating of the

> Monday night and into Tuesday with the front to our north and the

> through the Ohio Valley. The best chance for any heavy rain should
> be across the northern counties closer to the front, and a Flood
> Watch is posted for Northern Kentucky into early Tuesday. The storm
> chances will hang around into Tuesday before things dry out and
> heat up again toward the mid week. Highs should work back into the
> mid and upper 90s through Friday with another front bringing the

  1. That’s a scary thought. A two-year old busting outta home, and wandering the streets! C’mon! something can be done to keep the kid inside. Keep the kid in a crib, or a play-pen at night (he may still be able to climb out, but it’d be a hinderance; and put a hook on his bedroom door; security chains on the doors to the house, and install dead-bolts. If he still manages to break out, see about setting him up with a career as an illusionist/escape artist. He may be the next Houdini…

  2. The story reads:

An expansion of U.S. 25 in Scott County will force some homes, businesses and even more than 30 graves to move.
Close to 35 graves near the front entrance of the Crestlawn Cemetery will have to be uprooted. The state plans to widen Highway 25 from two to four lanes. The expansion is scheduled to be completed by 2010.
“To have to do it at the expense of thirty families is a lot to ask,” says Annetta Scott. Scott’s parents are buried at Crestlawn. The replacement of the graves doesn’t sit will with her and other family members.
The state plans to hold a meeting with family where the the engineers of project will be on hand. The meeting on September 10, 2007 will discuss the plans to obtain the land from the Crestlawn and options family members have.

I have mixed feelings about this project. I agree that moving grave sites is a bit much to ask, however, the expansion of the highway is necessary. US HWY 25 has always been a busy stretch of road between Georgetown and Lexington, and is growing busier with each passign day. With the upcoming Equestrian Games, traffic on that stretch of road will undoubtedly increase.
Though it may be a trying time for the family members of those laid to rest, I believe that the project should be supported, for by moving those who have already passed, lives of others may be saved by sizing the road up – by clearing the dangerous congestion on this highway.
