Noon-ish News Update

Followup to the home invasion story mentioned earlier this morning:

At least one arrest has been made in connection to the home invasion that took place shortly after 12:30am this morning near Monroe Road, just off of US 27 South.

According to a police citation obtained by WLEX, Raven B. Edwards (27) used social media to establish a meeting with the homeowner–[WLEX does not allude to the intended nature of the meeting]. Shortly after Edwards’ arrival and invitation into the residence, her boyfriend, Marcus Gross and a [presently] unnamed male subject entered the home, and began to assault the homeowner. [A previous report by WLEX stated that the altercation took place in the homeowner’s bedroom.] During the struggle, the homeowner managed to locate a firearm and shoot one of the men. The homeowner was apparently injured during the incident, though extent of injuries has not been reported.

Edwards has admitted to knowing that a robbery would take place shortly after her arrival.

According to reports, investigators are continuing to search for the second male subject.

Edwards is currently in custody at the Bourbon County Detention Center and is charged with Robbery 1st Degree and Burglary 1st Degree.

  1. In the noon update for the story, WLEX revealed that Marcus was the individual involved in setting a fire to an apartment on August 27, 2007.

I’ve not been able to find much more information, other than a follow-up article that was published a year later in The Democrat:

Gross changes plea in Hillside arson

Formal sentencing for Marcus Gross will be held Sept. 16 in Harrison Circuit Court.

Gross was charged and later indicted on charges of arson, criminal mischief, burglary and wanton endangerment. He initially entered not guilty pleas to the charges. However, in court last week, Gross changed his plea to guilty on an amended arson charge and the remaining three charges.

A recommended sentence of 10 years on the arson and burglary, one year on the criminal mischief and five years for wanton endangerment will be considered on Sept. 16. The recommendation is also for the sentences to run concurrently for a total of 10 years.

Gross was charged following the Aug. 27, 2007, fire at Hillside Apartments. Gross was involved in an altercation with an ex-girlfriend. He approached her apartment and attempted to pull her inside at knife point.

When that failed, Gross reportedly closed himself inside the estranged girlfriend’s apartment and set fire to a mattress in one of the bedrooms.

Gross then barricaded himself in another bedroom, but later jumped from a third-story window, where he was arrested by Cynthiana Police officers.

WLEX states that they have attempted to contact Edwards at the Bourbon Co. Detention Center, however staff at the jail stated that Edwards was “out of it” and unable to talk at this time…
