A site you likely won’t see…

For a while now, Diana & I have been visiting Cynthiana Baptist Church, and the experience has been quite good; the people are nice, the sermons are informative and entertaining, and the experience in the Sunday school class we were invited to–the only word I can think of to describe it is “fun.”

Anyway, this past Sunday, Diana had pointed out that the weekly service bulletin/pamphlet listed a URL on the bottom of the front page. I informed her that the domain listed–http://cynthianabaptistchurch.org–wasn’t really valid anymore; someone at the church had let the domain expire, and now it is being squatted upon. After explaining what squatting was, and telling her that the company that now possessed the name would likely want to charge the church a few hundred bucks to buy it back, I told Diana that it’d be in their best interest to just start-over from scratch and buy a new name, too. To this, Diana replied, “…well, maybe you should do something…”

Monday morning I sat down, with those words still echoing in my mind, and began to create a new site; a few days later, I had come up with a working concept, which is now running on my “home-server.”

The site is currently configured as a WPMU setup, with one main site/blog for the church itself, and a blog for the pastor, student ministry and kids ministry. Most of the information that I have posted on the main site came out of caches at The Internet Archive; some of the information supplied is original–but not much. Many of the larger images were either created or re-created by me (a couple of banner images were split apart–I stitched them together; I also created a new banner for the main site as well as a collage using images found scattered on the church’s multiple Facebook pages).

If you’d like to see the site I created, head on over to and take a peek; but do it soon–I don’t know how long I’ll keep it up.

I don’t know whether I’ll share what I made with the church–I’m kind of scared of stepping on someone’s toes; and, is it really someone’s place to try and jump in and do something when they aren’t even a member?
