This Week's Democrat

Here’s the headlines, ripped from the pages of this week’s edition of The Cynthiana Democrat:

BREAKING NEWS: Man hunt for Berry Bank robbery suspect
The Farmers National Bank Berry Branch was robbed Friday morning and an all-out man hunt is underway.
Leaders wage war on drugs: U.S. attorney says Cynthiana drug problem not unique, but a problem nonetheless
The messages delivered at a drug awareness meeting Monday night were simple: The demand for drugs must be decreased and the public has to get involved in fighting the spread of drug use and sales.

Child predator case to go to trial Dec. 10
A Dec. 10 trial date has been set for Thomas Vascotto, who was charged as a sexual predator in Pennsylvania.

Beating victim Id’s teen suspect
After having been the victim of two apparent beatings earlier in the year, Obie Roberts has been beat up again. This time, there is a suspect.

HCHS band bound for state semifinals
The Harrison County High School Marching Band is headed to the semi-final round of the state band competition on Saturday.

Arrest made in Saturday gunfire incident
Police arrested Miller A. Commodore Saturday after they said he fired a shot while standing with a large group of people at Mill and Poplar streets.

Cooking School to offer holiday meal ideas
Taste of Home culinary specialists know people are trying to eat healthier, but one of the biggest pitfalls maybe the trip to the grocery store. A quick stop at the supermarket on the way home from work is often a ā€œgrab-and-goā€ event. Shopping on an empty stomach invites impulse buying, while good nutrition is sacrificed to meet harried schedules. The old adage of ā€œeating with your eyes firstā€ seems truer than ever today.

Getting ready to leave: Deployment of local Guard unit eminent
Soldiers in the local National Guard unit are undergoing training for deployment to Afghanistan in the near future.

Also in this week’s edition:

*Trick or treat is Wednesday, Oct. 31

*Project Graduation meeting is Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria

*Friends of Griffith Tavern have open house

*Fire prevention coloring contest winners pictured

For all the details, subscribe today to the Cynthiana Democrat.
