ASUS Motherboard Ships With Embedded Linux
ASUS Motherboard Ships With Embedded Linux
Michael writes “ASUSTek has introduced the P5E3 Deluxe motherboard, which in addition to using Intel’s new X38 Chipset also features a soon-to-be-announced technology by DeviceVM. SplashTop is an instant-on Linux desktop environment that is embedded onto this motherboard. Within seconds of turning on the P5E3 Deluxe motherboard, you can boot into this Linux environment that currently features a Mozilla-based web browser and the Skype VoIP client. Browser and VoIP settings can be saved and there are plans for the device to provide new features and support via updates. At Phoronix is a review of this $360 motherboard embedded with Linux and a web browser.”

» The weekend is kicking off on a hot and mainly dry note. Throughout
» the afternoon, fair weather cumulus clouds have formed with the
» heating of the day, but still plenty of sunshine to boost temps

random ideas and opinions
I was just messing around at the Democrat’s site, and ran across an editorial of Donald’s that I had missed. It is well worth reading. While I fully agree with all points made, there was one portion that stood out in my mind. Below is that portion of what Donald wrote:
Opinions are needed from all age, gender, race and ethnic groups. I grew up here, and I know that if you’re not over 60 and have the right socio-economic background or the right family tree, most people will dismiss what you say.
That’s probably going to make some people mad, but this concept is not my own making. I’ve heard person after person say the same thing.
Diversity of ideas must be sought, it won’t come to us on its own. And when it’s found, it must be acknowledged.
So, just for fun, should anyone actually read this, and they be from Cynthiana, I am requesting comments on this particular passage. I wanna know what you think.
…and if you want to read the full article, you can find it at:
Coffeebreak – 10/5/2007
I’m sorry, but today’s show isn’t being blogged in great depth, because there really wasn’t much of a show. It was open-mic, and only three people called in. The first caller just wanted to say hi, the second to mention veteran’s day and complain about a few aspects of local government, and the third to ask whether they will be scheduling an interview with a fourth-grader who had wrote an editorial on littering.
Listeners were reminded of the Ghost Walking Tour that debuts tonight, and that the Thorobreds fight Pendleton County on the hilltop tonight.

It's Torture
It’s Torture
We’ll be all over the explosive NY Times article revealing that the Bush Administration secretly condoned the torture of enemey combatants. We’ll bring you all the verbal acrobatics from the White House briefing today, as Dana Perino did her best to put out the fire.
Plus…another bomb dropped in the NY Times. Focus on the Family’s James Dobson announcing that his group will endorse a third party candidate if the GOP elects one that doesn’t jive with their position on abortion (ahem, Rudy?).
The Limbaugh controversy continues…Rush’s home affiliate radio station refuses to play the McGough VoteVets ad.
All that…plus Alex Borstein (aka Ms. Lois Griffin) joins Keith to talk ‘Family Guy’, Politics, and whatever else comes up. It’s going to be a good show.

The Next Leap for Linux
The Next Leap for Linux
Nrbelex writes “The New York Times is taking a look at the state of Linux. “Linux has always had a reputation of being difficult to install and daunting to use. Most of the popular Windows and Macintosh programs cannot be used on it, and hand-holding — not that you get that much of it with Windows — is rare. But those reasons for rejecting Linux are disappearing.” The article discusses major PC makers’ newest offers and compares them to their Windows counterparts.”
