Excerpt from a conversation with Diana…

I just wanted to share this…

Diana: When I heard the learn’d astronomer,
When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me,
When I was shown the charts and diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them,
When I sitting heard the astronomer where he lectured with much applause in the lecture-room,
How soon unaccountable I became tired and sick,
Till rising and gliding out I wander’d off by myself,
In the mystical moist night-air, from time to time,
Look’d up in perfect silence at the stars.
what do you think when you read that?

me: the wizard of oz
Diana: ahh its a poem by Walt Whitman
I do not know how do dissect something like this
My teacher: Read Walt Whitman’s poem below. What implications may it have, not just for this course, but for your journey toward a master’s degree

Diana: any thoughts?

me: when someone is capable of giving the answers, and explaining things to you, the magic is stripped, and you are left feeling empty, where the wonderment has been eradicated…
Diana: Wow! that is amazing… I get it now!
me: but, you are capable of taking this new found knowledge, and seeing it for yourself, and setting out to use it, and be able to look at things differently
you are then able to look at these things once more, with reflection, and better understanding, and then you realize that there still is more that you do not know, and that the journey will continue…
i dunno…
Diana: you are writing my response for me lol
me: that’s just my take…
that’s why i came up with the wizard of oz…
remember, Dorothy and the gang set out to find the wiz, found him, and then did his bidding, to later find that he was just a man…
the disappointment of this set in, but then, through further discovery, they found that the old man was still as important, if not more now, for they knew a bit more about him
i guess, that my interpretation is ok…
the thing is, no answer would be correct – remember the human element in everything…
well, anyway, i’m gonna get back to work…
love you…

Well, I’ve had a slow start this morning… I’ve got the coffee brewing now…
I’ve been up since 7:30, but haven’t managed to get motivated to do anything until now…
I took the kids to school, so that I could try and get some more housework done, and do a bit of homework.
I’m kinda doing the Tom Cruise Risky Business thing right now, prancin around in socks, a shirt, and underoos… I tried to slide on the floor earlier, but failed miserably, because I haven’t mopped it yet… kinda embarrassing…
Well, the coffee’s done, so I’m gonna grab a cup, crank the music, and start cleaning…

85%! Almost there!
Did I mention that this format wasn’t just a regular format? I’m formatting, and writing random data on a 60GB HD while screwing around with AutoKDJ…
… so my PC is kinda tapped on the resource front at the moment…
… poor old thing…
… I have no earthly clue as to why I am sharing this…

I just love the way that Hassall speaks on the radio. There’s just something about the way he speaks that differs from the rest of the officers.
I’m bored, sitting at the computer, reformatting a drive, and listening to the scanner.
A guy hit a pole in front of Angilo’s. He has five prior traffic incidents – three in February of this year, and two in 2005. Not a good driver. And the guy hits a pole in a parking lot, that has been there for thirty years.
Anyway, Hassall got the call.
Ooooh…. I’m 17% of the way done on this reformatting…. only 83% more to go!
Yep. I’m bored.
It’s cloudy and 74°.
yippee!
22% done…

So, I’ve got a roast in the oven, a couch piled with laundry to sort, and a reorganized desk…
…and the kids are watching Teletubbies…
“One day, in Teletubbie land, a cloud appeared, and it began to rain.”
… ooh, Po just found a big puddle…
… yay!
… and Dipsy stepped in the puddle!
… what joy!

So, how many times should you tell your son to not put his sister in the closet? Can anyone tell me this? I’m starting to get tired of it. I think I’ll just make a recording and play it back to him on a loop while he’s sleeping…
I listened to the audio of the hot-dog competition on the radio… it sounded like the announcer was announcing for a horse-race… kinda disturbing… interesting how they referenced vomitting as a reversal…
Niv’s trying to give one of her babies a drink…
The kids are home, ’cause they got the poops… as do I… I think it was something we ate…
I think Niv’s gonna be a dancer… I set her on top of the desk yesterday while I had some music playing… she started dancing away…
It is 71°F with Light Rain….
As you can see, I really have nothing to write about…
