dum de da dum de da dum de da dah dah….

I just thought I’d blog for no reason. And here it is. Aren’t you happy?
I added The Black Parade to my main projectplaylist.com playlist.
I updated my Live Space profile.
I wrote a nasty email to an instructor at Sullivan.
I wrote “dum de da dum de da dum de da dah dah….” in the subject line of this blog.
That just about covers it…
Pretty boring, huh?
Oh, hell… wanna read the email I sent? No? Well, tough! Here it is anyway:

Supplied Essay (read email first).doc – 35k

Ms. name removed to protect the innocent:
I hope that one of these two email addresses listed throughout the course is correct. If not, and I have reached someone who is not the instructor for the course mentioned in the subject line of this email (aside from those of you listed in the “CC:”), please disregard; otherwise if you are the Ms. Baker (and company), please read on.

I have tried to contact you twice, via email, with regard to an issue I am having with the course. The issue I am having is that I cannot access any page in the outline beyond week one. I also do not have access to any of the chats or discussions beyond the “welcome” introductions. I had full access during weeks one and two, and had made use of them. When I last attempted at the end of week three, I discovered this problem. I would like to know why.

I had made contact with CLEGA, and they responded, by saying that it appeared that you had not graded my week one exam, thus I had been blocked from proceeding further.

If you have blocked me purposely, for not actively participating, I would like to take this opportunity to explain the situation to you.

During week one I had posted my personal introduction and written notes to the discussion board, as requested, however had not posted the notes to Turnitin.com, due to the fact that I did not have the proper information to do so – your syllabus had the incorrect login information. I did not have adequate time to check up on this until the beginning of week two, when I noticed that the information had been updated. I thought of this as, “no big deal”, for I could easily recover from this glitch.

I am now starting to believe that the term “glitch” does not fit any description of this course, and that the term SNAFU may be more appropriate.

During weeks two and three I had major difficulty in accomplishing anything, due to personal problems, which I do not wish to delve into in this email, however I am going to supply you with an essay which I wrote for my ENG101 class, which discusses the matter. I wish, nay, I demand that you read it, in order to fully understand my situation during those weeks. I am not asking for sympathy in that regard – just a keen sense of understanding.

On a related (to this course) topic, I have sent you email prior, via the Intralearn system, discussing the topic(s) chosen for the research assignment. Where I took advantage of that avenue for emailing, I have no record or receipt available to me to prove that I had sent you that message. I can, however, recall from memory that I chose and presented you with a list stating that I would be interested in covering either Terantino, Gates, Stigmata or same-sex marriage. I had also complemented you for your large list of possible topics. I never received response, telling me what, if any of those topics were still available.

So, I now sit stagnant, awaiting your response, to give me further direction. I have not made any further progress, and have done so deliberately, seeing as I cannot verify that any instructions given prior are still in effect; nor do I plan to make any further progress until this situation has been resolved and I once again have access to the course outline and communications tools.

Thank you for your time. I hope to hear back from you soon.
Respectfully,

Jeremiah Hall Palmer

OLPC bashing… them bastards!

I know that I have mentioned OLPC before (if not here then I have in another blog elsewhere), and have mentioned that I support the project. (In spirit anyway – I’m broke, and am not a programmer, designer, or engineer.)

Well, while I was doing some digg-ing, I ran across this:

I believe that it’s worth a read. Check it out, and see how the GI gets bashed back in the comments. hehehe…

I haven’t written much here in a while… I really don’t know why.
Actually, I do know, but it’s all a little too personal, and I can’t really share it with the whole world just yet…
Oh, well.
Poop.
I just thought I’d say something since it has been a while…

Your Result: Social Nerd

You’re interested in things such as politics, psychology, child care, and peace. I wouldn’t go so far as to call you a hippie, but some of you may be tree-huggers. You’re the type of people who are interested in bettering the world. You’re possible the least nerdy of them all; unless you participate in other activies that paled your nerdiness compared to your involvement in social activities. Whatever the case, we could still use more of you around.  ^_^
