Storms will likely weaken as they drop south, but all of southern Indiana and central Kentucky will need to stay weather aware tonight!

Severe Storms Tonight?

A large complex of powerful thunderstorms is expected to charge from Illinois to Ohio this afternoon into tonight. It’s possible that a narrow, broken line of storms may extend to the southwest of the main cluster and could sweep through southern Indiana and central Kentucky tonight. There is still some question as to how widespread and how severe any storms in our area would be. However, it does appear that there is at least a chance of severe weather tonight, especially over southern Indiana and northern Kentucky. Damaging winds will be the main threat, but isolated tornadoes and large hail will be possible as well. The most likely timing is between 10pm and 4am EDT.

...CLUSTER OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS MOVING NORTH-NORTHEAST
THROUGH PORTIONS OF CENTRAL KENTUCKY THIS AFTERNOON...

A LARGE CLUSTER OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAS DEVELOPED ACROSS
PORTIONS OF CENTRAL KENTUCKY EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. MUCH OF THE
ACTIVITY HAS BEEN CENTERED EAST OF THE INTERSTATE 65 CORRIDOR.
ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE TENNESSEE PLATEAU WILL ALSO
MOVE NORTHEAST INTO CENTRAL KENTUCKY OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS.

THESE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL PRODUCE TORRENTIAL
RAINS...WIND GUSTS TO 40 MPH AND INTENSE CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING
AS THEY MOVE THROUGH THE REGION. RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF THREE
QUARTERS TO ONE AND A QUARTER INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE THROUGH THE
AFTERNOON HOURS. THIS MAY CAUSE PONDING OF WATER ON AREA ROADWAYS
AND REDUCE VISIBILITY AT TIMES. THE HEAVY RAINFALL MAY ALSO RESULT
IN SOME MINOR FLOODING OF POORLY DRAINED AND LOW-LYING AREAS.

STAY TUNED TO NOAA ALL HAZARDS WEATHER RADIO AND YOUR LOCAL MEDIA
FOR THE LATEST UPDATES ON THIS WEATHER SITUATION.
