…SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH DAMAGING WINDS AND POSSIBLE TORNADOES
THIS EVENING AND TONIGHT…
A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL SWEEP THROUGH CENTRAL KENTUCKY AND SOUTH-
CENTRAL INDIANA LATE TONIGHT. AHEAD OF THIS FRONT…VERY STRONG
WINDS IN THE ATMOSPHERE COMBINED WITH MODERATE INSTABILITY COULD
RESULT IN A VERY SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER EVENT ACROSS THE
REGION TONIGHT.
ISOLATED TO SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE NORTH INTO THE REGION
LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING WELL AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT. SOME
OF THESE STORMS COULD DEVELOP INTO SUPERCELLS AND BOWING LINE
SEGMENTS WHICH ARE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS…A FEW
TORNADOES AND SOME SMALL HAIL.
A BETTER CHANCE OF SEVERE STORMS EXISTS LATER TONIGHT…MOST LIKELY
AROUND OR AFTER MIDNIGHT…WHEN A SEPARATE LINE OF SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS IS LIKELY. THIS LINE WILL ALSO CONSIST OF SUPERCELLS
AND BOWING LINE SEGMENTS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING WIND DAMAGE AND
TORNADOES.
ADDITIONALLY…VERY HEAVY RAINFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE THROUGH
TONIGHT…WHICH COULD LEAD TO ISOLATED FLASH FLOODING AS WELL.
THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION SINCE THE BEST THREAT OF
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL OCCUR AT NIGHT. PLEASE SET YOUR NOAA
ALL-HAZARDS WEATHER RADIO TO ALERT MODE IN THE EVENT A WARNING IS
ISSUED AT NIGHT WHILE YOU ARE ASLEEP.
STAY TUNED TO THE LATEST INFORMATION ON THIS SEVERE WEATHER EVENT BY
MONITORING LOCAL MEDIA OR BY VISITING OUR WEBSITES AT

…STRONG STORM SYSTEM TO BRING ANOTHER ROUND OF SEVERE WEATHER TO
THE REGION TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING…
THE LATEST WEATHER FORECASTS INDICATE THAT A STRONG STORM SYSTEM
DEVELOPING ACROSS THE ROCKIES WILL MOVE EAST AND BRING ANOTHER
ROUND OF SEVERE WEATHER TO THE REGION ON TUESDAY. SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE AREA MONDAY NIGHT AND
EARLY TUESDAY…MAINLY WEST OF I-65.
BY TUESDAY AFTERNOON…THE COLD FRONT IS FORECAST TO MOVE INTO FAR
WESTERN KENTUCKY. THE COMBINATION OF THE FRONT…ALONG WITH
INCREASING INSTABILITY AND VERY STRONG WINDS ALOFT WILL SET THE
STAGE FOR ANOTHER LARGE SQUALL LINE TO DEVELOP. THE LINE OF
INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS WILL SURGE EASTWARD THROUGH THE REGION
TUESDAY NIGHT.
AT THIS TIME…THIS STORM SYSTEM LOOKS VERY SIMILAR TO THE ONE
THAT AFFECTED THE AREA LAST WEEK. WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS ARE
THE MAIN SEVERE WEATHER THREAT WITH THE ACTIVITY FOR TUESDAY
NIGHT. HOWEVER…GIVEN THE STRONG WIND FIELDS…THERE IS THE
POSSIBILITY THAT SOME ISOLATED TORNADOES COULD BE EMBEDDED WITHIN
THE SQUALL LINE.

…BUSY WEATHER DAY FOR THE REGION…
A DEVELOPING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL BRING A VARIETY OF WEATHER
HAZARDS TO CENTRAL KENTUCKY AND SOUTHERN INDIANA TODAY AND
TONIGHT.
THIS STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL BRING AMPLE MOISTURE TO THE
REGION MAINLY DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS. THE EXPECTED
WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD BRING GENERALLY A
HALF INCH TO AN INCH OF RAINFALL TO THE REGION. SOME LOCALLY
HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE POSSIBLE WITH TRAINING SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS…POSSIBLY UP TO TWO INCHES OF RAINFALL OR MORE IN A
FEW AREAS. THIS COULD CREATE ISOLATED FLASH FLOODING PROBLEMS THIS
AFTERNOON AND EVENING…ESPECIALLY ACROSS SOUTHERN INDIANA AND
PORTIONS OF THE BLUEGRASS OF KENTUCKY WHERE AMPLE RAIN HAD FALLEN
ON TUESDAY.
IN ADDITION…THIS SYSTEM WILL BRING A COLD FRONT THROUGH THE
REGION LATER THIS EVENING. MARGINALLY SEVERE STORMS MAY BE
POSSIBLE AHEAD OF THIS FRONT…PARTICULARLY BETWEEN 3 AND 8 PM
EST ALONG AND SOUTHEAST OF A LINE FROM BOWLING GREEN TO
LEXINGTON…WITH DAMAGING WINDS BEING THE MAIN THREAT.
LASTLY…WITH THE COLD FRONTAL PASSAGE TONIGHT…WINDS WILL BE
GUSTY AHEAD OF AND BEHIND THE FRONT. SUSTAINED WINDS OF 10 TO 20
MPH WILL BE COMMON…WITH GUSTS UP TO AND POSSIBLY OVER 30 MPH FOR
A BRIEF PERIOD OF TIME WITH THE FRONTAL PASSAGE.
