A vinyl blue banner bearing the “Kentucky Unbridled Spirit” logo that flew in Iraq was stolen, apparently during last weekend’s Kentucky-Eastern Kentucky football game.

Crime statistics put Harrison in front of similar counties in many areas

According to Crime in Kentucky, a Kentucky State Police publication, Harrison County’s 2006 figures are ahead of counties of like demographics.

Using Bourbon, Anderson and Marion counties in comparisons, Harrison County had more larcenies (thefts), more burglaries and more rapes.

Families unite for memory lane stroll: Rohs Opera House undergoes renovation, reopens this weekend

Rohs Opera House’s new owners and volunteers were working overtime last Wednesday night to install seats in the theatre. If all goes as planned, it will reopen Saturday after a six-month closure.
The new owners are shooting to open the theatre this Saturday to coincide with A Taste of Harrison County Arts and Crafts Festival.

Legendary Tenor Pavarotti Dead at 71

Epic opera singer Luciano Pavarotti, whose voice and style made him one of the most famed opera singers to have ever lived, has died, his manager told The Associated Press. He was 71.

Pavarotti had been fighting a long battle with pancreatic cancer. His manager, Terri Robson, sent the AP an e-mail statement confirming that th e singer died at his home in Modena, Italy, at 5:00 AM local time.

“The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life. In fitting with the approach that characterised his life and work, he remained positive until finally succumbing to the last stages of his illness,” the statement read.
