FREEZING RAIN ACROSS PORTIONS OF SOUTH-CENTRAL INDIANA AND
NORTHCENTRAL KENTUCKY THROUGH MID EVENING…
FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EST THIS EVENING…
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LOUISVILLE HAS ISSUED A FREEZING RAIN
ADVISORY…
WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EST THIS EVENING.
SURFACE TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO CLIMB THROUGH THE EVENING.
HOWEVER…PAVEMENT TEMPERATURES ARE STILL BELOW FREEZING DUE TOTHE
RECENT COLD SPELL ACROSS THE AREA. THEREFORE…RAINFALL WILLFREEZE ON
THESE SURFACES…ESPECIALLY BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES.

EAST INTO THE WESTERN OHIO VALLEY TUESDAY. AS THIS WEATHER SYSTEM
APPROACHES…STRONG SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL ALLOW WARMER AIR TO MOVE
IN ALOFT OVER AN ARCTIC AIRMASS THAT WILL BE IN PLACE ACROSS THE
REGION. THIS COMBINATION OF WARM AIR ALOFT AND COLD AIR AT THE
SURFACE WILL SET THE STAGE FOR A PERIOD OF WINTRY WEATHER MAINLY
DURING THE DAY ON TUESDAY AND POSSIBLY INTO TUESDAY NIGHT.
PRECIPITATION IS FORECAST TO START OFF AS SLEET AND THEN CHANGE

Be advised,
There is a potential for a severe winter storm beginning in far western
Kentucky around noon tomorrow continuing into Monday night. The temperature
is going to drop over 30 degrees to below freezing. Any precipitation will
turn to ice in the form of either sleet or freezing rain. Potential up to
half an inch of ice and any wet surfaces will freeze beginning late in the
afternoon.
